Caritas Mother
Teresa Hall

Serving Objective

The Hall commenced service on 1 September 2017 to provide residential care services for adolescent girls who have behavioural and emotional problems, or who may be under the influence of undesirable peers or having relationship problems with their families, and hence require a period of out-of-home care. A government-aided School for Social Development, Caritas Mother Teresa School, provides a mainstream curriculum located at the same premises to provide a holistic education to the students.

服務對象

1. Group Care Hostel Service
This service is designed for female students in Secondary 1 to Secondary 5 who face difficulties related to family circumstances, personal behaviour, or emotional challenges, and whose families are temporarily unable to provide appropriate care and guidance. The typical length of stay is one to one and a half years.

2. Youth Accommodation Service
This service is for day school students or working young women aged 12 to under 21 at the time of admission. They are unable to live with their families due to family circumstances, or face emotional or behavioural difficulties requiring residential training support. The typical length of stay is two years.

Multi-Modal Residential Care and Life Skills Training
Students learn interpersonal skills, emotional management, and domestic life skills in a stable, structured, and caring small-group home environment. Social workers accompany students through regular three-month improvement plans, helping them develop a goal-oriented and self-improving approach to life.

Professional Social Work Services and Parent Engagement

  • Social workers assist students in developing and implementing individual development plans. Case review meetings are held every six months to assess progress and needs, with input from the referring social worker, parents/guardians, and the student to formulate specific improvement and welfare plans.

  • Social workers provide individual and group counselling, and organise regular parent-child activities and parent talks in various formats. Where case needs arise, mothers may be accommodated in the “Parent-Child Suite” to provide emotional support to their daughters.

Diverse Developmental Activities and Groups
A wide range of interest-based and developmental activities are organised to build students’ self-confidence and help them realise their potential. Students are also encouraged to participate in community service, caring for people with different needs in the community and fostering a spirit of giving back.

Professional Support Services
Clinical psychology services are provided for students with special educational needs and emotional difficulties. Expressive arts therapy groups, emotional management training, and social skills training groups are also offered.
