Caritas Computer Workshop
Service Overview
Founded in 2001, the Caritas Computer Workshop is a self-financing computer recycling and reuse initiative dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability, providing youth training, and supporting the IT needs of low-income families.epd+1
Through collecting and refurbishing donated computers, we reduce electronic waste and provide regenerated computers at low cost or free of charge to families in need and non-profit organisations, helping to narrow the digital divide. At the same time, we offer computer skills and pre-employment training to young people facing employment difficulties, equipping them with practical skills, supporting their entry into the workforce, and improving their life prospects
- Environmental Protection: Reducing electronic waste and minimizing their impact on environment through recovering and recycling services
- Bridging the digital divide: Providing grassroots families with recycled computers at a relatively low price
- Vocational training for vulnerable youth: Recruiting young people facing employment challenges and providing them with relevant training
Collecting used computers and other related electronic devices from corporations, schools, NGOs and individuals.
Providing refurbished computers and other related electronic devices to the needy and non-profit making organizations. Repair services are also provided.
Providing computer server setup and maintenance and other related services for non-profit making organizations and corporations and also allow youth to gain vocational experience and exposure.
Providing data erasure services to hard drives and other storage devices to protect the privacy of donors to promote recycling. This is also offered to corporations as a paid service to support the workshop’s administration.
Promoting the benefits of computer refurbishment and the impact of electronic waste on our communities and the environment and call for action against the problem.
Renting refurbished computers to non-profit making organizations and corporations to promote environmental protection.
